Application Process

Due to the high volume of applications submitted, please allow up to 2 weeks for processing applications through the end of the application window.

All appointments rescheduled or cancelled 3 to 30 days prior to the scheduled appointment will be charged a $62.50 fee paid directly to Prometric. A credit card will be required. You will not be allowed to reschedule less than 3 days prior to your appointment. All appointments cancelled less than 3 days prior will forfeit the full exam fee and be required to obtain a new eligibility. The Candidate Handbook for the July-August 2013 VTNE includes the new Domains, Task Statements and Knowledge Statements.

To take the VTNE, you must apply and pay for the exam and you must apply for eligibility to take the exam. Applications to take the VTNE are always accepted; however, there are deadlines for each examination window. No late applications will be accepted.

Candidate Handbook

The VTNE Candidate Handbook is designed to be the main source of information for those applying/registering to take the VTNE. All candidates are required to read the handbook.

Step 1: Applying

Apply to take the exam with AAVSB. You will pay for the exam when you submit your application. AAVSB accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express.

You must create a login for a MyAAVSB account at any time of your application. This account allows you to login and update personal information, ask questions, check status of your application, and review your official score report when available. Please be aware that you will not be able to access your account until your application has been processed. Due to the high volume of applications submitted, please allow up to 2 weeks for processing applications through the end of the application window. If, after that time period, you attempt to log-in and encounter problems, please contact vettech@aavsb.org or call us at 1-877-698-8482.

 


Step 2: Eligibility

After completing the VTNE application, select your state for additional instructions to confirm your eligibility to take the VTNE exam.

Step 3: Making Your Examination Appointment

After your application and eligibility have been processed, if approved, you will receive an Authorization-to-Test (ATT) email from Professional Examination Service (PES). This email explains how to make an examination appointment at a Prometric Testing Center which will determine the date, time, and location of your exam.
