Voting Delegates at the AAVSB Annual Meeting & Conference

Introduction


Congratulations on being designated as your jurisdiction's voting delegate for the 2017 AAVSB Annual Meeting & Conference.   Whether you are a first-timer or a seasoned veteran to the delegate process, this resource will help you fulfill your role.


As a voting delegate, you will be representing your jurisdiction's viewpoint. We ask your commitment to reviewing these materials for clarity on the issues being discussed and on which you will be voting.


If you are participating as a Funded Delegate, please review the Funded Delegate Program Policy. If you are attending the Annual Meeting as a volunteer to a Committee and participating as a voting Delegate, you will receive a copy of the Committee Travel Policy separately.


Delegate Assembly

According to the AAVSB Bylaws, the AAVSB Delegate Assembly is the governing body of the organization with specific authority defined in Article V, Section 3.


Preparing for Your Role

Before the Annual Meeting

  • Review the Nominating Committee Report (coming soon) for information on the open positions and the nominees.
  • Review the Bylaws & Resolution Committee Reports (coming soon) for information on proposed Bylaws amendments and submitted resolutions.
  • Receive direction from your regulatory board on votes.
  • Review the Standing Conference Rules document (coming soon).

During the Annual Meeting

  • As a voting Delegate, you will be called to the front of the room by the President on Friday and Saturday mornings.
  • Bring your Conference Meeting Guide and a pen or pencil with you to the Delegate seating.
  • Voting on Bylaws, Resolutions and uncontested elections will occur by standing. Contested elections will take place by paper ballot.
  • Following the Delegate Assembly, voting delegates will be instructed to return to their original seats.

After the Annual Meeting

  • A written summary will be provided a few days following the conclusion of the meeting to assist you in reporting back to your regulatory board. The AAVSB website will also provide information as a follow-up to the Annual Meeting & Conference.
