The AAVSB® Announces 2016-2017 Board of Directors

Kansas City, MO (October 20, 2016) - The American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) is pleased to announce the members of its 2016-2017 Board of Directors. Elections were held at the 2016 AAVSB Annual Meeting & Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona on September 24, 2016. At this meeting, Frank Walker, DVM, moved into the President position. He will serve in this role for a one-year term.


Dr. Walker has served on the AAVSB Board of Directors since 2011, most recently as President-Elect. He has also served the AAVSB on the Finance Committee, Leadership Development Task Force, and Bylaws and Resolutions Committee. He is a former President and member of the North Dakota Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners and has been a licensed veterinarian in New Rockford, North Dakota since 1977.


Mark Olson, DVM, was elected to the President-Elect position, moving from his position as Treasurer. Michael Gotchey, DVM, was appointed to the vacant Treasurer position, moving from his position as Director.


Larry McTague, DVM, and Vito DelVento, DVM, were elected to the position of Director. Each are new to the Board of Directors and will each serve a two-year term. Dr. McTague previously served the AAVSB as a member of the RACE Committee. He has been a licensed veterinarian in Ardmore, Oklahoma since 1971. Dr. DelVento has served the AAVSB on both the Conference Committee and the Leadership Development Task Force. He is the Executive Director of the District of Columbia Board of Veterinary Medicine, where he is also a licensed veterinarian.


Roger Redman, DVM, was reelected to the position of Director, for a two-year term.


"The raw talent combined with the years of regulatory experience in these individuals makes for a stellar team," remarked AAVSB President Dr. Frank Walker. "I'm thrilled to work alongside this group as we oversee the mission of the AAVSB, which is to support and advance the regulatory process for veterinary medicine."
