AAVSB Response to COVID-19
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to provide you with an update on our ongoing efforts to continue assisting the AAVSB Member Boards while also protecting the health and safety of our staff and volunteer leaders. We are in unprecedented times but we are confident in the resilience of our community and know that we will weather this crisis together.
The AAVSB staff in Kansas City, Missouri, is working remotely for the next several weeks at minimum, but we are 100 percent operational. We understand many of you may also be working remotely or have offices closed. While the national response to COVID-19 is rapidly evolving, here are a few steps the AAVSB has taken in light of the situation:
Given new recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that Americans cancel or postpone events of 50-plus people for the next eight weeks, the AAVSB is not holding any in-person meetings through May 20, 2020. This includes our Board Basics and Beyond training that was to be held in Kansas City next month as well as any in-person Committee meetings. If you were registered for or planned to attend an upcoming AAVSB meeting or event, your AAVSB staff liaison will be in touch with details regarding possible rescheduling.
Please read our statement about how the current VTNE administration is impacted. Some PSI test centers administering the VTNE during the March 15 - April 15, 2020 testing window may be closed. PSI has posted a
notice on their website, regarding test site closures and procedures. The list will be updated daily at 2:00 pm central time. If a candidate's exam site is closed, they will be emailed by PSI and will be given an opportunity to reschedule to a later date, with no additional fees.
The AAVSB is also looking at alternative means of delivering educational content and resources wherever possible. We will let you know about those opportunities as they arise.
While we are all having to make tough decisions as a result of this fast-moving threat, the AAVSB stands with its Member Boards, volunteer leaders, and the veterinary medicine community. We will continue to share information with you through a variety of channels. Please
contact us directly if you are in need of answers or help. For those of us who are distanced from colleagues and friends in the industry, please stay in touch with each other and offer each other support in this challenging time.
Thank you and stay safe!
Sincerely,
James T. Penrod, CAE, FASLA
AAVSB Executive Director
