AAVSB® Administering South Dakota’s State Jurisprudence Exam for Veterinarians

Kansas City, MO (June 18, 2018) – The American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) is pleased to announce administration of the state jurisprudence examination for veterinarians on behalf of the South Dakota Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. Several AAVSB Member Boards already utilize the State & Provincial Assessments (SPA) service.

Many of the AAVSB’s Member Boards (veterinary licensing boards) require a state exam for the licensure application process for both veterinarians and veterinary technicians. These exams measure an applicant’s knowledge of local statutes, rules, and regulations. The AAVSB can provide an online delivery method for these exams, or proctored in- person exams, depending on the jurisdiction’s needs.
AAVSB Director of Program Services Nancy Grittman said, “A local law competency assessment is common in most licensed professions. More and more jurisdictions are relieving a huge burden by delegating this exam’s administration to the AAVSB.”
