Awards

The AAVSB is pleased to offer two awards to Veterinary Technician National Examination® candidates, each awarded annually. We are proud to offer the VTNE® Award and the VTNE® Celebrating Diversity Award to those who not only put in the hard work, but also represent outstanding leadership and academic achievement, and those who foster, cultivate, and continuously preserve a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

VTNE® Program Director's Award

The Veterinary Technician National Examination Program Director's Award is given to one veterinary technician/nursing student in their final year from each AVMA-CVTEA and CVMA accredited program.

  • Program faculty select a student of their choice who is graduating in the same year calendar year as receiving the award.
  • The recipient will receive a prepaid voucher from the AAVSB for the Veterinary Technician National Examination. Program Directors must submit their recipient information to the AAVSB BEFORE uploading the candidate on a roster to the AAVSB portal.
  • Submissions are accepted annually for the calendar year beginning on January 1, with a submission deadline of December 1.
  • There is no application for this award.

Award recipients are announced in April, August, and December and highlighted on the AAVSB's social media.

VTNE® Celebrating Diversity Award

The Veterinary Technician National Examination® Celebrating Diversity Award is presented to one graduating veterinary technology/nursing student from a group that has been traditionally underrepresented in the veterinary technician profession.

The award recipient is selected based on their commitment to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and treating everyone with respect and dignity. The Award recipient is announced on May 15th and will receive a VTNE exam voucher for their VTNE online application.

The application deadline is March 31st annually, and applicants must be enrolled in an AVMA-CVTEA or CVMA accredited program at the time the recipient is selected. Please click this link to apply, and send the application, supporting documents and videos here.
