1 Task: Review exam information and dates

  • Be sure you read the Candidate Handbook for the entire VTNE policy regarding:
    • refunds
    • withdrawing/cancellations
    • rescheduling
    • test day requirements
    • ID requirements - name changes
    • absences
    • score reporting

    (The candidate handbook has been updated, and any changes will be effective Dec 16, 2024)

  • The VTNE is a 3-hour exam which consists of 170 multiple-choice questions. Your score on the VTNE is based on responses to 150 operational questions. The additional 20 pilot questions embedded in the test are used for constructing future examinations and will not count toward your final score.
    • The VTNE is offered in both English and French.
  • You'll pay $355 USD by credit card when you submit your online application. The AAVSB accepts

2 Task: Request Testing Accommodations

When you complete your application, you’ll have the opportunity to indicate if you need to request accommodations. The process can take time, so, if you anticipate the need to request accommodations, it’s best to start the process early in the application window.

3 Task: Selecting an Exam Window

  • You must take the exam during the exam window for which you apply or you will forfeit your exam fee 
  • You may reschedule your exam once for a $90 fee up to 48 hours before your scheduled exam time
